Bring your creativity in this engineering maker program! We'll provide the materials, but it's up to you to create and build the structures that go along with the prompts. This sessions we will be designing and building a Leprechaun Trap using a variety of craft supplies such as toilet paper tubes, cardboard, paper chains, pipe cleaners, and more! Engineering and art from recycled materials is a great way to foster a child's creative expression and design thinking. This program encourages children to tackle problems through creative and innovative solutions. Children will also dive into the 6 processes of science they will observe, predict, question, test, retest and reflect on the materials, how best to use them, and if their solution works. Enhancing Your Future with Mathematics & Science (EYF)

Every year, 220 students in grades 6-8 from the state of Kansas come to Emporia State University to take part in Enhancing Your Future With Mathematics and Science. This STEM outreach program is held every year on the first Saturday in March. During the day, students participate in career discussions and hands-on workshops led by professionals in science and mathematics careers. Students hear presentations from two speakers, one at the opening ceremony and the other after the luncheon. All participants receive an Enhancing Your Future t-shirt designed specifically for the conference at the end of the day. Parents and teachers are encouraged to attend this event as well. The concurrent adult program includes separate sessions with a focus on learning strategies for encouraging students to pursue careers in science and mathematics, as well as observation of the hands-on workshops.
