WORK! is a pop-up exhibit designed by the Asheville Museum of Science exploring the real-world work of women STEAM leaders. On view until September 20, 2026. Note: as of the page capture date (2026-09-12), this exhibit is still active but closes 2026-09-20.

Weekly, 75-minute hands-on STEAM classes (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) led by Explora educators for K-9th grade homeschool students. Sessions run September 21 through December 8, 2026. Each materials-rich session encourages students to question, investigate, experiment, and make discoveries while building skills in observation, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and innovation. Activities include designing planetary rovers, solving ocean pollution challenges, constructing 3D models, designing mythical creatures, mapping fantasy worlds, and engineering functioning ziplines. Blends storytelling with STEM. Bring a nut-free snack and a water bottle.

Children learn about the science behind their favorite heroes' powers including gravity, aerodynamics, forces, motion, flight, super villain fights, and superhero vehicles. Lenovo's BLAST (Black Leaders Achieving Success in Technology) employee resource group hosted nearly 200 middle and high school students from the NC MSEN Pre-College Program for a day of tours, career conversations, and hands-on activities. Students came from Edgecombe County, Durham County, Halifax County, and Wake County Public Schools. Activities included touring Lenovo's Executive Briefing Center, learning about design thinking, educational boards, UX and accessibility, a STEAM rotation station, and hands-on work with microprocessors including connecting Arduino Pis to LED lights and laptops. The event was part of Lenovo's seventh Global Month of Service. Lenovo has donated over $40,000 to the MSEN program over three years.
