Thanks to the generosity of the Toyota Wellspring Education Fund, the Big Ideas Mobile Learning Lab will be visiting PHS Sophomores on September 21st and 22nd. Each Sophomore will gain exposure to careers in skilled trades through hands-on activities and virtual reality experiences. The event spans two days (September 21 and 22, 2026). Weekly, 75-minute hands-on STEAM classes (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) led by Explora educators for K-9th grade homeschool students. Sessions run September 21 through December 8, 2026. Each materials-rich session encourages students to question, investigate, experiment, and make discoveries while building skills in observation, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and innovation. Activities include designing planetary rovers, solving ocean pollution challenges, constructing 3D models, designing mythical creatures, mapping fantasy worlds, and engineering functioning ziplines. Blends storytelling with STEM. Bring a nut-free snack and a water bottle.

Half-day afternoon camp (9:00 AM - 4:00 PM per listing), duration 5 days starting September 21, 2026. Ages 5-12. Children learn about the science behind their favorite heroes' powers including gravity, aerodynamics, forces, motion, flight, super villain fights, and superhero vehicles. Full day camp (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) combining Science of Superpowers (afternoons) and Animation Studio (mornings). Duration: 5 days starting September 21, 2026. Ages 5-12. Please bring a nut-free lunch, 2 nut-free snacks, and a water bottle. Includes special access to an hour before and after camp (8a-5p).

Half-day morning camp (1:00 PM - 4:00 PM per listing), duration 5 days starting September 21, 2026. Ages 5-12. Children create stop motion animation movies using LEGO® bricks. Work in teams to produce movies complete with dialogue and sound effects. Movies uploaded to a secure site for family and friends to view. Bring a nut-free snack and a water bottle.

A full day of building, experimenting, and making with an Engineering theme. Includes magnetic tile building, STEM projects/activities, and a snack/lunch break. Campers may be walked to the local park (16th and 8th) depending on weather. Campers must be in Kindergarten or above and at least 5 years old, and must be potty trained. Bring a packed lunch, snack, hat, and labeled water bottle. Spots are limited and grouped by grade.

During these camps, campers will explore the Zoo, meet some animals and participate in hands-on STEM learning. Possible topics include animal adaptations, habitats, conservation, animal care, and ecosystem dynamics. For children in Grades K-5.

Farm School Experience is a full-day homeschool field trip event (11:00 AM to 4:00 PM) at the Vinton County Fairgrounds in the Hocking Hills region of Ohio. The event features over 20 free, age-tiered, hands-on learning classes for homeschool students from elementary through high school. Activities include: Farm Petting Zoo (two half-hour sessions with animal feed available for purchase), Learn About Horses (horse care, handling, and miniature horse rides), Goat Milking, Foraging Hike & Taste (guided hike identifying wild edible plants), Applesauce Making (hands-on harvest cooking over open flame), and Farm First Aid (role-playing adventure learning about livestock injuries and basic first aid concepts). The event integrates science, math, history, nature study, traditional skills, food, animals, engineering, and problem solving through real farm life experiences. Hosted by The Homestead Homeschool.

Homeschool Day at the Poe Center is designed exclusively for homeschool students to provide them with opportunities to interact with peers and other co-ops, all the while engaging in the Poe Center's effective and immersive health-science programs. Event runs 10:00 am - 1:00 pm ET.
