A four-day festival for fans of pop culture, superheroes, science fiction, anime and more, GalaxyCon Raleigh features celebrity guests, comic book creators, artists and cosplayers--altogether an incredible 30,000 attendees at the Raleigh Convention Center in downtown Raleigh to participate in all things geek!

This one-week, residential, hands-on STEM camp for rising eighth-grade girls includes activities like programming robots, extracting DNA, formulating lip gloss in chemistry lab, visiting the Atlantic Ocean, FAA Technical Center, e-Sports Lab, and Pinelands Preserve. The program is designed to increase girls' self-confidence and interest in STEM fields through a female-led, inclusive, residential university setting. Educators can nominate 7th grade campers for this empowering STEM experience.

The Explorers program at UNCG is an immersive STEM outreach initiative for high school students (rising 10th-12th graders or rising 1st year college students planning to major in science). The Agriculture & STEM Convergence Experience runs July 20-24, 2026, and focuses on the connection between agriculture and STEM. Activities include: hands-on laboratory experience in agricultural and environmental science, 3D printing skills applied to scientific applications, a visit to a pollinator bee center, a college tour with faculty and industry expert engagement, and collaborative team pitches addressing real-world STEM challenges. The program integrates science policy, environmental and economic impact, and problem-based learning. It is a collaboration with UNCG, NC A&T, and the Science and Technology Center STEPS (focused on phosphorus sustainability). A parent and student informational session will be held in June 2026. Field trips to university research labs, local farms, bee pollinator centers, and local museums are included.

Lacawac Sanctuary Foundation's Girls in STEM Symposium is a one day event designed to inspire and empower middle and high school girls (7th grade through 12th grade) to explore careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The 2026 event will feature a stronger focus on hands-on activities, streamlined speaker schedule with more Q&A time, expanded vendor and scientist displays, informational tables closer to pavilion area for meeting STEM professionals during breaks, and programming designed to maximize student engagement and discovery through small-group interactions and instructor-led demos.

Nuclear Science Week (NSW) 2026 is an international, week-long celebration running October 19-23, 2026, with Wilmington, NC selected as the national host city. The Wilmington Area Local Section of the American Nuclear Society (ANS) is organizing the event, with strong industry partnerships including Duke Energy and GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy. Each day of NSW focuses on a different aspect of nuclear technologies—ranging from energy and medicine to innovation, careers, and environmental stewardship. Planned activities include hands-on student experiences, facility tours, and community events. Local events also take place nationwide during the same week. Wilmington previously hosted NSW in 2016.
