Farm Science Review is one of the nation's leading events for outdoor agricultural education, demonstrations and innovation. Each year, the event brings together industry leaders, researchers, educators, students and visitors to explore the future of agriculture. Runs September 22-24, 2026, 8:00 am - 3:00 pm each day.

The premier agricultural education and industry exposition featuring more than 100 educational sessions, 600 exhibits, comprehensive field crop demonstrations, career exploration fair, and immersive virtual reality videos of agricultural activities. Exhibitor applications are also being accepted for 2025.

Farm School Experience is a full-day homeschool field trip event (11:00 AM to 4:00 PM) at the Vinton County Fairgrounds in the Hocking Hills region of Ohio. The event features over 20 free, age-tiered, hands-on learning classes for homeschool students from elementary through high school. Activities include: Farm Petting Zoo (two half-hour sessions with animal feed available for purchase), Learn About Horses (horse care, handling, and miniature horse rides), Goat Milking, Foraging Hike & Taste (guided hike identifying wild edible plants), Applesauce Making (hands-on harvest cooking over open flame), and Farm First Aid (role-playing adventure learning about livestock injuries and basic first aid concepts). Science Bound at Iowa State University is designed to involve diverse students from 20 Iowa schools in Agriculture, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (ASTEM) education and research. The program begins the summer before 8th grade and continues through college graduation for students from Denison, Des Moines, Marshalltown, and Osceola (Clarke County). Each year, participants attend four Saturday events at Iowa State University with hands-on research activities led by faculty, staff, and students. Activities include science fairs, summer programs, oral presentations, lab tours, and interactions with ISU staff and students. Eighth-grade participants must complete a science fair project and essay to apply; high school participants must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. New students are identified and invited through collaboration with thirteen middle schools during the spring of 7th grade. Students who complete the program and meet admission requirements receive a full-tuition scholarship to Iowa State University for an ASTEM-related degree. Next Saturday event: September 28.

Learn about the Vermont Mesonet—a statewide network of automated weather stations providing real-time, localized data—and the Summit to Shore network focused on snowmelt flood forecasting. Discover how these networks support flood resiliency, agriculture, utility management, and winter tourism across Vermont. Every October, Elk Grove Park is transformed into the ultimate autumn celebration, attracting pumpkin enthusiasts from far and wide. Since 1994, the festival has been a beacon for giant pumpkin growers competing for glory. The Bart Nelson Memorial Sheep Scholarship provides financial assistance to high school seniors from Iowa, who have been involved in sheep projects or activities. Students planning to attend a community college, college, or university in Iowa are encouraged to apply. Special consideration is given to students who show a desire to remain active in the sheep industry after graduation. Expected to reopen in November 2026 with deadline in February 2027.

The annual Harvest Festival takes place November 10-14, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. daily. Features live demonstrations throughout the museum grounds including Cotton Gin, Saw Mill, Cane Mill, Print Shop, Blacksmith Shop operations. Wagon, Train, and Carousel Rides available for $1 per rider. General Store offers snacks and souvenirs. Reservations recommended for groups but not required.
