Part of the YMCA Achievers Program college tour series. All-day college tour for teens ages 13-18 (grades 8-12). The Achievers Program is a data-driven initiative that develops individual talents, enhances leadership skills, and prepares participants for life beyond high school. Features a teen-focused leadership curriculum from the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC.

Weekly, 75-minute hands-on STEAM classes (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) led by Explora educators for K-9th grade homeschool students. Sessions run September 21 through December 8, 2026. Each materials-rich session encourages students to question, investigate, experiment, and make discoveries while building skills in observation, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and innovation. Topics change each semester. Days/Class Times: Mondays 1:00-2:15pm, Tuesdays 10:30-11:45am and 1:00-2:15pm. Scholarship opportunities available.

A full day of building, experimenting, and making with an Engineering theme. Includes magnetic tile building, STEM projects/activities, and a snack/lunch break. Campers may be walked to the local park (16th and 8th) depending on weather. Campers must be in Kindergarten or above and at least 5 years old, and must be potty trained. Bring a packed lunch, snack, hat, and labeled water bottle. Spots are limited and grouped by grade.

Virtual help session for 4-H'ers who have begun exploring or working on their project record through the new Kaleidoscope online system. Youth should come prepared with questions about navigating the system and creating or completing their online project record. All youth must be accompanied by an adult during the session. Only one registration is needed per youth-adult pair. Session runs 7-8 p.m. ET. Zoom information will be sent to registered participants.

Just in time for National Fossil Day, kids and teens ages 9 and older are invited to learn about the geologic history of North Dakota when staff from the FM Science Museum visit the library. Participants will examine and touch real fossils from across North Dakota's past, then uncover their own fossils in a hands-on mini fossil excavation. Pre-registration opens September 11.

Science Bound at Iowa State University is designed to involve diverse students from 20 Iowa schools in Agriculture, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (ASTEM) education and research. The program begins the summer before 8th grade and continues through college graduation for students from Denison, Des Moines, Marshalltown, and Osceola (Clarke County). Each year, participants attend four Saturday events at Iowa State University with hands-on research activities led by faculty, staff, and students. Activities include science fairs, summer programs, oral presentations, lab tours, and interactions with ISU staff and students. Eighth-grade participants must complete a science fair project and essay to apply; high school participants must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. New students are identified and invited through collaboration with thirteen middle schools during the spring of 7th grade. Students who complete the program and meet admission requirements receive a full-tuition scholarship to Iowa State University for an ASTEM-related degree. Next Saturday event: September 28.

The Iowa STEM Teacher Award, sponsored by Google, recognizes leadership and dedication that increases student interest in STEM. One award is given per each of Iowa's six STEM regions. Eligible nominees are licensed, full-time PK-12 Iowa teachers who incorporate STEM in public or non-public school classrooms and spend at least 75% of working hours in the classroom. Self-nominations and previous award recipients are not eligible. Recipients will be announced in early 2027.

The Hawai'i Young Investigators Program (HYIP) provides grants for students in grades 6-12 to subsidize costs of supplies needed to conduct independent research projects. Students must apply to a School or District Science & Engineering Fair (grades 6-12) or the Hawaii JSHS (grades 9-12). Applicants must be enrolled in a Hawaii public, private, or home school. To apply: complete the HYIP SY26-27 APPLICATION and submit by October 1, 2026 to acadsci@hawaii.edu. The number of grants awarded is contingent on funding. Applications for SY26-27 are now open. The program was started in 2022; in its first year 4 students received grants, growing to approximately 10 students in subsequent years.

National Challenge Pre-Registration window runs October 1 – November 6, 2026. This is part of the AASHTO Bridge Builder / National Bridge Challenge program offered through FDOT's STEM Outreach Solutions initiative for Florida middle and high school students (Grades 7-12).

The STEAM Grant Program is run by the West Virginia Department of Tourism in partnership with the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation. It supports education initiatives integrating Arts with STEM disciplines for West Virginia's PK-12 students. At least 20 projects will be funded, taking place between July 1, 2026 and June 30, 2027. Eligible applicants include WV preschool through high school programs, school systems, public libraries, non-profit arts organizations, and community non-profit organizations with arts-related missions. Priority is given to projects that build collaborations among teachers, artists, and/or STEM professionals; thoroughly integrate arts and STEM; include hands-on and problem-solving activities; are innovative, creative, and collaborative; include a strong evaluation component; are sustainable; and take place in underserved areas. Applications must be submitted through the online portal by October 1, 2026. Final reports for approved projects are due by July 31, 2027. All applicants must be registered as Vendors with a W-9 on file and registered for Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT).
