The Chattooga River Ranger District will host a Kids Fishing Day at Tallulah River Campground. Open to youth ages 15 and under. Participants will have the opportunity to fish, enjoy lunch, and take part in activities including goodie bags and prizes. Participants should bring a fishing rod and bait. Restroom facilities available on site. Directions from Clayton: Take U.S. Highway 76 west for approximately 8 miles, turn right (north) onto Persimmon Road and continue for 5 miles, turn left (northwest) onto Forest Service Road 70 and travel approximately 1 mile to Tallulah River. Event supports outdoor recreation and stewardship of aquatic resources across the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest.

Step Up to STEM is an interactive, interdisciplinary academic summer program using real-world subjects to challenge talented rising ninth- and tenth-graders across North Carolina. This session (June 14-19, 2026) is for Cohort 2 students only — those who participated the previous year as Cohort 1 students. The program builds skills in STEM and communications. Applications were open only to current eighth-grade students who are NC residents. Acceptance decisions emailed March 11, 2026. Acceptance contracts deadline: March 25, 2026.

The Esports & Gaming Summer Camps are STEM education camps for the local community and serve children ages 8-17. Each camp is five days from June 15 - July 31, 2026. The summer camp content will include tech driven STEM education by instructors from Black Rocket. Campers will have the opportunity to focus on two major subjects each week -- one in the morning and one in the afternoon -- and of course have plenty of time allotted for gameplay and friendly competitions. Programs run June 1 - July 31, 2026 overall.

iLead Kids Camp Summer Camp 2026 officially begins June 15. The team is preparing registration systems, interviewing and training staff, planning engaging activities, coordinating field trips, and preparing materials. Imhotep Academy is a year-round middle school enrichment program (6th-8th grade) that introduces students to STEM with emphasis on expanding access. This summer session 'Exploring Life at the Nanoscale!' runs June 15-18, 2026, meeting 8:45 am to 2:00 pm daily. Registration opens Friday, March 20. Activities include hands-on investigations, laboratory tours, field trips, leadership, college readiness, and interactions with STEM professionals.

Campers participate in a variety of outdoor and nature-related activities, including team-building, primitive fire building, outdoor cooking, boating, and fishing. They also participate in nature games and activities, and are presented with various interactive environmental education programs. During the week, campers are taken on a full-day field trip, and on Thursday have a campout that evening at River Park North. Ages: 10-13. Multiple sessions: June 15-18, June 22-26, July 6-10.

Junior Veterinarians Camp: STEM in Action! is a week-long STEM summer camp for ages 10–14 offered at 59+ locations across the US (including AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, MA, MN, MO, NJ, NY, NC, OH, PA, TN, TX, VA, WA, DC, and online). Camp runs 9am–3pm daily (Mon–Fri), with optional early arrival from 8am and extended day until 5:45pm. Topics include: animal anatomy and physiology, veterinary simulations (diagnosing pretend patients), biology and chemistry experiments (vaccines, mock samples, animal nutrition), engineering challenges (designing enrichment toys and animal enclosures), Pet First Aid & Care Certification, and real-world case studies. Campers receive a Certificate of Excellence, camp t-shirt, and VIP lanyard. Staff-to-camper ratio is approximately 1:4 to 1:8. The Rootle Roadster Tour is a free, playful learning event for children ages 0-8 and their families. Features include hands-on learning activities and games, PBS KIDS education resources, local community partners offering resources and support services, take-home learning materials and giveaways, and special screenings and live performances. Activities include STEM experiments, literacy and movement-based games, and creative arts experiences. Event runs 10 AM - 3 PM local time.

Step into the world of emergency response! This exciting, hands-on summer camp gives youth the chance to meet real-life heroes from fire departments, law enforcement, dispatch, EMS, and other first responder agencies. Throughout the camp, different professionals will share what they do, demonstrate their equipment, and teach important safety tips. Campers will learn how first responders keep our communities safe and how they can be prepared for emergencies themselves. Every camper will build a basic emergency preparedness kit to take home--so they're ready for anything! 4 sessions running Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Parents should register their child using the child's name and date of birth. A waiver will be emailed and must be completed before the first class.

Camp PlayWELL: Mindful Friends & Feelings is a camp day event at the Poe Center for Health Education. Runs from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm local time. Focus on mindfulness, mental wellness, and social-emotional learning for children.

Music Composition Camp Session 1 for ages 12-14 and 14-18. Runs June 29 - July 3, 2026. Directed and taught by northern Virginia teaching artists and special guest artists. Learn to hone music writing and producing skills with professional software, one-on-one mentoring, performance tips, peer feedback, and more. Hosted by Mason Arts Academy at George Mason University's Fairfax campus.

June 30th, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM. Ages 9-14 years old (as of January 1). Hands-on Fishing Education Day where youth will learn the basics of fishing including casting techniques, identifying common fish species, understanding fishing equipment, and learning about aquatic habitats and conservation. Youth will practice their skills and spend time fishing while learning the importance of protecting natural resources. Great for beginners and experienced anglers. The Horticultural Science Summer Institute (HSSI) is a week-long residential, hands-on, pre-college program at NC State University for rising 9th-12th grade high school students. Activities include climbing trees, grafting tomatoes, cross-pollinating petunias, visiting NC farms/markets/greenhouses/gardens, and workshops led by faculty, staff, and students on topics such as breeding better vegetables, propagating ornamental shrubs, extending cut flower longevity, sustainable production and design practices, and plant science tools. Students live in campus residence halls with campus dining. The program also includes college-making decisions, leadership development, evening entertainment, and team-building activities. Program runs July 5-10, 2026. Applications open with acceptance occurring in mid-April 2026.
