Farm School Experience: A Homeschool Field Trip in the Hocking Hills of Ohio

Farm School Experience is a full-day homeschool field trip event (11:00 AM to 4:00 PM) at the Vinton County Fairgrounds in the Hocking Hills region of Ohio. The event features over 20 free, age-tiered, hands-on learning classes for homeschool students from elementary through high school. Activities include: Farm Petting Zoo (two half-hour sessions with animal feed available for purchase), Learn About Horses (horse care, handling, and miniature horse rides), Goat Milking, Foraging Hike & Taste (guided hike identifying wild edible plants), Applesauce Making (hands-on harvest cooking over open flame), and Farm First Aid (role-playing adventure learning about livestock injuries and basic first aid concepts). VetAspire - Fall 2026: Friday, October 2

VetAspire is a one-day program enabling a select group of high school and undergraduate students to spend a day at MSU CVM. Sessions begin at 8:00am and end at 4:00pm (13:00-21:00 UTC). Up to 10 students are selected per session. Participants experience key components of the veterinary medicine profession, different career avenues, veterinary curriculum and classroom instruction, hands-on learning in laboratory/field/clinic settings, and interaction with multiple species of animals. An excuse is provided to those who attend since the program takes place during school hours.
