Farm School Experience is a full-day homeschool field trip event (11:00 AM to 4:00 PM) at the Vinton County Fairgrounds in the Hocking Hills region of Ohio. The event features over 20 free, age-tiered, hands-on learning classes for homeschool students from elementary through high school. Activities include: Farm Petting Zoo (two half-hour sessions with animal feed available for purchase), Learn About Horses (horse care, handling, and miniature horse rides), Goat Milking, Foraging Hike & Taste (guided hike identifying wild edible plants), Applesauce Making (hands-on harvest cooking over open flame), and Farm First Aid (role-playing adventure learning about livestock injuries and basic first aid concepts). The event integrates science, math, history, nature study, traditional skills, food, animals, engineering, and problem solving through real farm life experiences. Hosted by The Homestead Homeschool.

Second orientation session: Thursday 9/24/2026 (4pm-6pm). It is mandatory for volunteers to attend ONE orientation session before scheduling volunteer time with Forsyth Humane Society (FHS). After completing orientation, students will be able to volunteer in a variety of ways, including shadowing a veterinarian during surgery and assisting with tasks in the FHS Education Department.

Meet foxes with JAB Canid Education and Conservation Center on Friday, September 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The event will include a live presentation, meet & greet, storytime, and additional activities.

What critters are living in your neighborhood? Bring your little scientist to investigate the many animals native to Indiana that you might encounter in your own backyard. This program is led by the Indiana State Museum. This program will have an ASL interpreter.

Black-footed Ferret Day is a conservation event at the Great Plains Zoo campus in Sioux Falls, SD. The zoo's mission includes conservation of wild species and spaces.

Join us for Creature Features and meet River Legacy Nature Center's featured animal ambassador: Sunny, the yellow belly ball python! Learn about the animal's adaptations and natural history.

Presented by the Des Moines Izaak Walton League. Activities include virtual skeet shooting, fishing (cast a line), archery (shoot a bow), slingshot range, BB gun range, animal presentations, minnow races, crafts, frisbee golf, temporary tattoos and face painting. Exhibits from area conservation organizations. Event runs 10:00am–4:00pm local time.

Living with Wildlife: How to Peacefully Coexist with Wildlife That Live Around You on September 26, 2026, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM ET.

VetAspire is a one-day program enabling a select group of high school and undergraduate students to spend a day at MSU CVM. Sessions begin at 8:00am and end at 4:00pm (13:00-21:00 UTC). Up to 10 students are selected per session. Participants experience key components of the veterinary medicine profession, different career avenues, veterinary curriculum and classroom instruction, hands-on learning in laboratory/field/clinic settings, and interaction with multiple species of animals. An excuse is provided to those who attend since the program takes place during school hours. Program is specifically for high school sophomores to college seniors who are educationally, economically and/or socially disadvantaged.

World Animal Day celebrates animals around the globe and highlights the importance of protecting their welfare, habitats, and future. Visit the Zoo and learn how conservation and compassion help animals thrive both in the wild and in human care. Zoo is open 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM ET.

Kids in Nature Day (KIND) is a free, fun-filled, hands-on adventure where kids and families get up close with nature! Activities include meeting animal ambassadors, creating art from things found only in nature, a guided nature hike, exploring native plants and animals, and more. No registration required.

Hop on over and learn all about rabbits! This is a 1.5 hour learning opportunity for preschoolers (ages 2.5 to 4 years old). Part of the Nature Adventurers educational program series.

Join the South Carolina Aquarium for a virtual exploration of the secret lives of cephalopods. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET via Zoom.

Ages 6-8. Drop-off begins at 8:00am, pick-up by 5:00pm. Actual camp activities run 9:00am-4:00pm. Campers will learn about characteristics of ancient and modern reptiles, explore museum specimens including local and international reptiles, and meet live reptiles from Nebraska presented by Nebraska Game and Parks Commission educators.
