Home School Explorations Series at Explora - Fall 2026

Weekly, 75-minute hands-on STEAM classes (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) led by Explora educators for K-9th grade homeschool students. Sessions run September 21 through December 8, 2026. Each materials-rich session encourages students to question, investigate, experiment, and make discoveries while building skills in observation, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and innovation. Iowa State University's Science Bound Saturdays

Science Bound at Iowa State University is designed to involve diverse students from 20 Iowa schools in Agriculture, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (ASTEM) education and research. The program begins the summer before 8th grade and continues through college graduation for students from Denison, Des Moines, Marshalltown, and Osceola (Clarke County). Each year, participants attend four Saturday events at Iowa State University with hands-on research activities led by faculty, staff, and students. Activities include science fairs, summer programs, oral presentations, lab tours, and interactions with ISU staff and students. Eighth-grade participants must complete a science fair project and essay to apply; high school participants must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. New students are identified and invited through collaboration with thirteen middle schools during the spring of 7th grade. Students who complete the program and meet admission requirements receive a full-tuition scholarship to Iowa State University for an ASTEM-related degree. Next Saturday event: September 28.

Exploration Day - October 12, 2026

Exploration Days are the best opportunity to experience LSMSA first-hand. Prospective students sit in on classes while parents hear from school administrators, and everyone comes together for a campus tour, conversations with current students, and lunch in the dining hall.
