4-H National Youth Science Day: Code Your World

4-H is hosting a National Youth Science Day on October 1st to inspire kids to take interest in STEM topics. The theme is 'Code Your World,' focusing on computer science and teaching coding skills through fun hands-on activities. Developed by Google and the West Virginia University Extension Service, it is a four-part challenge that teaches computer science skills through dance, digital animation, and gaming. The kit includes student guides and a facilitator guide. Activities include offline coding activities (coding dance moves, coin/dice games, geography activities) and online skills using Scratch for programming. The kit also includes an 'Animate Your Name' activity. Suitable for school, club, or homeschool settings. No prior coding or computer science experience required to facilitate.
