Science is everywhere, and science is for everyone. The COSI Science Festival builds a diverse STEAM workforce and closes the STEAM skills gap by exposing individuals to science and technology where they live, learn, and lounge. DCDL will feature STEAM-focused programs this spring to bring the magic and learning of COSI to the Library. Three exciting days of community STEAM events from April 29 through May 2, 2026, leading up to COSI's Big Science Celebration on May 2.

Three-week accelerated child care training and certification program. Includes two in-person meetings (May 1-2) followed by self-paced online modules (May 3-June 5). Training covers CPR/first aid, health and safety, infant/toddler safe sleep, playground safety, child maltreatment recognition, NC Foundations for Early Learning, Environment Rating Scales, and program standards. Partnering organizations to be determined.

Grants to USA, Canada, and International nonprofit, for-profit, and academic organizations for programs to advance STEM education and professional development. 10-week Electrical Lineworker Training Program designed to prepare students for careers as electrical linemen. Includes pole setting/climbing, installing equipment, electric theory, safety training, commercial driving, and CDL training. 400 hours total with 350 hours credited toward apprenticeship. Monday-Thursday 7:30am-5pm, Friday online work.

The Manchester Tech for Teachers Institute is a dynamic, paid professional development program open to middle and high school teachers from across all STEM subject areas in the Manchester region. The focus is two-fold: Building knowledge of regenerative medicine and biofabrication and the transformation of instructional practice through project-based learning. The two-week program includes seminars, project design, observation of Manchester Tech Camp, and ongoing support throughout the academic year. Participants receive CEUs, classroom supplies, and ongoing support from UNH faculty and graduate students. Part of Manchester CREATES, a workforce development initiative funded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration.

Flight Night is a fundraising gala with a 'Space Cowboy' theme supporting STEM education in Oklahoma. The event features a live auction, recognition of Oklahoma's top STEM educators, gourmet dinner and drinks, air shows, and drone demonstrations. The evening includes complimentary valet parking, cocktails, dinner, live auction, and both day and night air shows with drone displays. This is a 21+ event that aims to inspire science-literate, critical thinkers and improve Oklahoma's skilled workforce by ensuring high-quality STEM experiences are accessible to all youth across Oklahoma.
