FNC District Wake County Event #1 - FIRST Robotics Competition

FIRST Robotics Competition district event for North Carolina teams. This is a 3-day robotics competition featuring practice matches, qualification matches, playoff matches, and awards. AQ-IQ Air Quality Contest for Seventh Grade Students

The annual North Carolina AQ-IQ Contest for seventh grade combines S.T.E.A.M. education and project-based learning with student creativity to teach air pollution science to students across the state. Students create projects that educate others about an air quality challenge and provide solutions. Projects can be artistic, online/interactive, posters, or videos. Special topic categories for 2025-2026 include Open Burning, Celebrating Ten Years of Success, and Adventures of the Air Avenger. Best projects in each of seven regions will be selected in early May and invited to the Air Expo and AQ-IQ Recognition Ceremony in July 2026. Open to all seventh-grade students in North Carolina including home, charter, and private schools. Students can work in groups of up to four.

Competitive Integrated Employment - Free Self-Paced Online Course

This free, self-paced online course is designed for North Carolina parents, caregivers, and professionals. The course focuses on Competitive Integrated Employment to help youth with disabilities build independence, gain job skills, and become active community members. Participants will learn how youth can work in the community, earn minimum wage or higher, and build a future after high school. The training covers benefits of working, addresses common fears and myths, and shares practical ways to remove barriers to getting and keeping a job. Even students with significant disabilities can succeed at work with the right supports. Training is accessible for 3 weeks from March 9-April 6, 2026. Certification of completion for 2 hours will be provided to participants who complete the training.

Youth Sustainability Symposium

A day of hands-on learning, coastal exploration, sustainable art, and real-world decision-making on Bald Head Island. The symposium engages high school students in thought-provoking, real-world conversations about conserving and preserving coastal resources for future generations. Activities include speaker series, career panel discussions, barrier island management group activities, sustainable art-making workshops, service learning projects (marine debris cleanups, oyster shell bagging, sea turtle cage building, trail maintenance), and reflection activities. Forestry Day in the Legislature

The NCFA sponsors an annual Forestry Day in the Legislature. The event provides an opportunity for NCFA members to come to Raleigh and meet with their elected officials in a relaxed atmosphere. This year's event will be enhanced by our collaboration with the North Carolina Trucking Association. Forestry Day will include an evening reception from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.
