Forestry Day in the Legislature

The NCFA sponsors an annual Forestry Day in the Legislature. The event provides an opportunity for NCFA members to come to Raleigh and meet with their elected officials in a relaxed atmosphere. This year's event will be enhanced by our collaboration with the North Carolina Trucking Association. Forestry Day will include an evening reception from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. NCFA members are encouraged to meet with their elected officials throughout the day, or the following day. Forestry Day in the Legislature is a highly anticipated and popular event with the members of the North Carolina General Assembly and their staff.

A proud tradition since 1941, The WV State Conservation Camp welcomes youth from all over the state to kick off their summer with new friends and opportunities to explore the natural world of WV and learn more about WV's natural resources! Making new friends, creating memories, and a wide variety of outdoor activities round out your time at camp. Shooting sports (skeet/shotgun, archery, and .22's), boating, rappelling, outdoor cooking, timber sports, fishing, and more will challenge you to try something new. WV State Conservation Camp

Since 1941, the WV State Conservation Camp has welcomed youth from all over the state. The goal is to acquaint West Virginia youth with the social and economic values of natural resources and environment, create a desire to save and defend these resources, and develop future conservation leaders. Classes include Fish Management, Forest Protection, Conservation Law Enforcement, Nature Awareness, Watershed Management, Wildlife Management, Soil Conservation, Forest Management, Youth Conservation, Parks and Recreation, Forest Products, and Water Quality Conservation. Additional activities include Trap Shooting, Archery, Small Boat Safety/Handling, Rappelling, Ax Throwing, Stream Quality Improvement, .22 Caliber Rifle Marksmanship, Outdoor Cooking, Fishing Skills, Non-game Wildlife, and traditional camp activities. Camp runs Monday June 8 - Friday June 12, 2026, beginning at 1 p.m. on Monday. Participants sleep in supervised cabins with bunk-style beds. Altitude above 2,500 feet - prepare for cool weather even in summer.

Green Zone Environmental Program (GZEP)

The D.C. Department of Energy and Environment's (DOEE) Green Zone Environmental Program offers youth (ages 14-24) environmental education and career training in sustainability, energy, water, wildlife and natural resources. Participants will install rain gardens, work in native plant greenhouses, collect seeds and remove invasive plants, maintain trees and beautify neighborhoods, provide conservation services across the District, and learn from DOEE professionals, Master Naturalists and environmental experts.
