July 20-24, 2026 | Rising 4th-5th graders | 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Sponsored and facilitated by the Mountain Heritage Center at WCU, this program explores the heritage of southern Appalachia from Native American origins through the arrival of the railroad by engaging participants in historic crafts, artifact investigation, local stories and legends, and field trips to farms and historic sites to learn about the people who lived in these mountains 100 to 1,000 years ago.
