Kids Building Minnesota 2026 is a free, interactive, and educational event for kids that celebrates the world of construction, engineering, and skilled trades. The event runs from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (CT). Activities include: getting up close and riding in real construction equipment, hands-on building activities, interactive STEM and trade exhibits, build projects to take home, interacting with industry professionals, and family-friendly learning for kids ages 4-12. Kids Building Minnesota is a FREE, hands-on construction event for kids and families designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and interest in the construction industry. Students will conduct experiments, play educational games, and unleash their creativity through building challenges and projects. No experience necessary—just curiosity and imagination.

LEGO and Halloween come together for a one-of-a-kind family event at TrainTastic. Build themed creations, complete fun challenges, enjoy Halloween activities, and explore interactive exhibits. Costumes are encouraged as families celebrate the season with bricks, trains, and plenty of creativity. Event runs 10:00 am - 3:00 pm local time.

Learn basic woodworking skills - how to measure, mark, and use tools safely. Start with raw materials and leave with a sense of accomplishment, pride, and a functional planter box! All materials, tools, and equipment are provided. Closed toe shoes are recommended. Registration opens on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at 6:00pm.

One of the largest model railroad shows on the East Coast with over 500 vendor tables selling new and used model train merchandise and memorabilia. Train Collectors of America (TCA) participating along with 16 operating layouts from G to Z and LEGO. Craftsman Showcase for model creations. EDUCATION STATION with numerous model railroad talks, demonstrations and displays. Kids activities include a Scavenger Hunt, interactive train layouts, coloring tables and more. The Mechanical Engineering Academy is a comprehensive program where children learn and build projects based on mechanical engineering concepts. Models such as powered cars, cranes, and windmills are examples of engaging and dynamic activities based on the LEGO Education Simple & Powered Machines engineering curriculum.

On Saturday, January 23, 2027, three regional bridge competitions will take place across Florida simultaneously. Each location will host events for Grades 6-8, Grades 9-10, and Grades 11-12. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in each grade group at every location. Students design, build, and test bridges. Top teams advance to the statewide championship. Grade 6 students may participate regionally but are not eligible to advance to the AASHTO National Bridge Challenge (which begins at Grade 7). Organized by FDOT in partnership with the American Council of Engineering Companies of Florida and the Florida Engineering Society.
