Big Science Celebration

The ultimate celebration of science and discovery! The Big Science Celebration (BSC) is a free, outdoor event featuring over 100 exhibitor stations filled with hands-on science activities hosted by STEAM professionals, researchers, and experts from Central Ohio and beyond. Held on the Scioto Peninsula surrounding COSI, this high-energy event also includes live performances, food trucks, and fun for all ages. STEMFest

First annual STEMFest - a celebration of all things science in the local community! Exhibitors will offer demonstrations of tools, experiments, equipment, and data, as well as hands-on STEM activities for kids and families. 2026 Swain County Agricultural Fair

A County Fair-style festival featuring judging of vegetables, eggs, and flowers; agricultural demonstrations; craft vendors; food vendors; live music; livestock shows; youth activities; and competitions including Battle of the Bands. This free event features more than 100 exhibits, speakers, and demonstrations designed to inspire and engage guests of all ages with opportunities for STEM learning. It is one of the largest free family events in northern Illinois. The event draws about 3,500 attendees annually and includes interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, robots, drones, and educational demonstrations from NIU departments and community groups.
