Student Science Training Program (SSTP)

The University of Florida Student Science Training Program (UF SSTP) is a seven week residential research program for selected students entering senior year and at least 16 years old by the program start date who are considering science, medicine, math, computer science, or engineering careers. The program emphasis is research participation with a UF faculty research scientist and his or her research team. Students engage in ongoing research for 30 hours each week, attend daily lecture series on current research topics, and participate in a UF honors seminar class. The program includes weekend fieldtrips, social events, and service activities. Students must commit to attending the entire program. Limited need-based scholarships are available for students attending Florida high schools. Final paperwork and fees are due by June 1st, 2025.

Camp SOAR (Summer Opportunities in Aerospace Research)

Camp SOAR is a six-day summer camp for rising high school juniors and seniors interested in aerospace engineering. The program offers four tracks: aircraft, rotorcraft, space mission design, and space robotics. Campers attend technical lectures by professors, participate in hands-on design projects, and tour research facilities including the Vehicle Systems & Control Laboratory, Land Air and Space Robotics Laboratory, National Aerothermochemistry and Hypersonics Laboratory, and RELLIS Innovation & Technical Campus. STEM Fest

STEM Fest is a celebration of all things science, technology, engineering and math. This free event features more than 100 exhibits, speakers, and demonstrations designed to inspire and engage guests of all ages with opportunities for STEM learning. It is one of the largest free family events in northern Illinois. The event draws about 3,500 attendees annually and includes interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, robots, drones, and educational demonstrations from NIU departments and community groups.
