Annual science festival organized by the Christa McAuliffe Center in collaboration with MetroWest STEM Education Network. Features exhibits focused on planet Earth themes, exploring science, technology, engineering, and math as they relate to environmental justice, renewable energy, and environmental sustainability. Rain or shine event - in case of bad weather, all exhibits will move indoors. Exhibitor registration available.

A weeklong residential summer camp for South Dakota high school students interested in engineering and transportation. Students will be introduced to transportation engineering aspects including planning, materials, and transportation modes. Activities include hands-on lab work, business tours, airport tours with flight simulator, materials testing, renewable energy impact on transportation, and various evening activities. Second session available June 7-13, 2026.

Celebrate the first day of summer with Solar Explorers, an all-day STEM adventure where students investigate the power of the sun, renewable energy, and summer science projects. This program combines hands-on engineering, coding, robotics, and environmental science, inspiring students to explore how energy and technology shape our world. Classes are nonrefundable, but we are happy to reschedule a missed class.

A maker culture experience featuring hands-on engineering activities including torch testing ceramics for hypersonics and space flight, glass melting, 3D printing exploration, supercapacitor creation and testing, AI optimization for renewable energy systems, and materials exploration at microscopic and atomic scales. Participants will work with world-renowned engineering faculty and interact with graduate and undergraduate researchers. Housing and meals included on campus.

Biweekly program where campers can power up with Renewable Energy, exploring solar, wind, water, and geothermal energy through hands-on experiments, fly drones with exciting aerial challenges (Grades 5-9), or create in Makerspace with projects like solar vehicles, bridges, and recycled inventions (K-4). All tracks include weekly field trips, including the Energy & Environmental Resource Center and ACUA. Space is limited. Program runs 9am - 4pm EST.

Programs run July 20-24, 2026. Marine Science includes field trip. Reach for the Stars students create planetarium shows.

Harness the power of the sun! Explore how to use renewable resources to generate electricity and heat. Build your own solar car, spinning window decoration, and solar heater. Ages 9-12.

Energy is everywhere! In this camp we will explore energy-related phenomena and explore energy transfer using the Project Lead the Way Launch module 'Energy Exploration.' Campers will explore ways that energy is at play all around us. They will make observations of energy-related events and investigate ways that energy can be transferred. Through scientific observations, hands-on explorations, and field trips to energy sources campers will learn all about energy and why it is so important in their lives. This day camp has a daily drop-off between 8:00-8:30 AM, and pick-up in the afternoon between 4:00-4:30 PM. Activities include: visiting businesses to learn about careers and real-life uses of energy, virtual field trip of a dam, designing windmill prototypes with VEX Go, exploring alternative energy sources with field trips to solar village and green roof, and designing restraint systems for vehicles.

Through hands-on activities, students will explore concepts like buoyancy, structural design, and renewable energy to create innovative solutions for survival and escape. With exciting team projects and fun problem-solving challenges, campers will gain practical engineering skills while fueling their creativity. Each camper is to bring their own water bottle and one healthy snack.
