From viral video to the White House, the novel "Young World" imagines a future when Gen Z doesn't just inherit the world but seizes it. In this episode of Plot Twist, educator and co-founder of the North Texas Teen Book Festival interviews the bestselling author to discuss critical themes such as youth activism, institutional collapse, and the perilous cost of radical change. This session will provide practical applications for educators, including strategies to amplify student voice, foster active participation in societal issues, and facilitate discussions around government and politics. Additionally, the panel will cover various themes such as empowerment through education, youth leadership and innovation, resilience and adaptation, social justice and equity, and digital activism.

Join CTD's Manager of Community Outreach, Tammie Stewart, for an overview of the Jack Kent Cooke Young Scholars Scholarship and application. The workshop will review the application itself and the process to apply. We will answer questions about the scholarship program, the application sections (parent section, student section, recommendations, essay, etc.). The goal is to help families prepare to complete and submit an on-time application. Open to any interested parent or educator. Grants of $500 to USA, Canada, and International high school educators for materials and supplies to aid in classroom instruction. Funding is intended to assist teachers in providing additional opportunities to their students and classrooms. Educators who are members of qualifying organizations are eligible to apply.
