Wild Kratts®: Ocean Adventure!, a brand-new temporary exhibit at the Clay Center, immerses young explorers in whole body explorations of ocean habitats and fascinating creatures. Using Wild Kratts technology and the powers of science and teamwork, visitors join the Wild Kratts team to solve problems, help animals, and foil villains' plans. The exhibit explores age-appropriate science concepts central to marine animals' lives through three main habitats: Seashore (tidal pool exploration, anemone crawling, lobster hunting), Shallow Sea (dolphin naming, shark cleaning station), and Deep Sea (dragonfish hunting in dark depths, ocean floor creatures). Recommended for children ages 3-9 with a tot spot for children under three. Produced by Minnesota Children's Museum in collaboration with Kratt Brothers Company. Presented locally by West Virginia Public Broadcasting, Encova Insurance, American Water Charitable Foundation, The Daywood Foundation, Inc., Bernard H. & Blanche E. Jacobson Foundation, and Martha Gaines & Russell Wehrle Memorial Foundation.

5-day intensive capacity building program for high-level ocean policy officials from developing countries. Program focuses on Ocean Governance, Marine Conservation, Sustainable Blue Economy and Continental Shelf regime. Includes welcome reception on May 17th and 5 teaching days from May 18-22. Priority given to Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Least Developed Countries (LDCs). Applications must be submitted through Permanent Missions to the UN.

A one-week residential pre-college program for high school students (grades 11-12) focused on shark and ray research. Students will participate in labs and lectures presented by research scientists, handle preserved specimens while identifying their key characteristics, and collect and examine local shark and ray species from the shoreline and aboard Eckerd College vessels. Program includes field trips to see sharks and rays in their natural environment and learn about elasmobranch science including their unique characteristics, diversity, and ecological interactions. Students must be able to pass a swim test (150 yards total, three full pool lengths).

The 2026 Ocean Awareness Contest - 'Your Story, Our Ocean: How Our Ocean Sustains, Protects, and Inspires Us' - encourages students aged 11-18 to explore the many ways our ocean sustains, protects, and inspires us. Applicants share how the ocean has shaped their story through works of visual art, creative writing, poetry, spoken word, music, dance, film, and more for a chance to win cash awards of up to $1,000. Open from September 15, 2025 to June 8, 2026.

Week-long residential fellowship for Massachusetts high school sophomores and juniors. Activities include building hydrophones, kayaking, sound analysis of dolphin vocalizations, shipboard oceanographic techniques, water quality testing, ocean drifter construction, whale watching, and research communication. Two sessions: Week 1: August 2-8, 2026 and Week 2: August 9-15, 2026.
