Capitol Day event organized by Nebraska Women in STEM, likely involving advocacy and engagement with state government on STEM issues

This conference is dedicated to providing a variety of professional development opportunities in astronomy and physics education for college, high school, and middle school teachers across the state of Nebraska. A theme of this event is the use of instructional technology to improve our teaching of astronomy and physics. The conference begins with a keynote, an exhibition hall, and your choice of four breakout sessions. After lunch, the second keynote and longer workshop sessions close out the day. Features sessions on simulating planet formation, neutrino citizen science, computational modeling, cosmological redshift, quantum physics, tornado forecasting with drones, video game physics, and HR diagram simulations.

Research program for high school students. Applications due March 15th and require a teacher recommendation. Students must use their own email address and information to create login, not parental information. Applications can be saved and completed over time.

Two-day conference for Nebraska Women in STEM, running March 26 1:00 pm through March 27 4:00 pm

The Nebraska Women in STEM conference provides professional development opportunities for women in STEM careers across Nebraska. Attendees will have the opportunity to develop their personal and professional identity, build networks of support to help them achieve their goals, and have a great time while doing it. NASA astronaut Col. Eileen Collins is the keynote speaker. The full agenda will be available later this year. Table purchases and other sponsorships are now available. Nebraska Women in STEM is a partnership between Bio Nebraska and Nebraska Cures.

Annual Nebraska Women in STEM Conference for 2026

Bio Nebraska's annual Life Sciences on the Links Golf Scramble is an opportunity to connect with other professionals from across Nebraska's bioscience industry. This unique golf course is built around an old rock quarry and features incredible views and exceptional course conditions. Whether you're registered as a team or an individual, this event provides a number of networking opportunities, including a lunch and a 19th Hole reception with an awards presentation. Registration and sponsorship opportunities coming in 2026.

3-day transportation engineering camp from June 3-5, 2026. All expenses covered except $30 application fee. Registration opens in February. Participants selected based on interest statement. Communication will be via email and phone calls.

Two-week summer camp for high school students interested in computing. Designed for students with little to no computing experience, with separate curriculum for those with moderate or advanced experience. Features project-oriented curriculum focusing on Java and Python, hands-on learning, visits to research labs and local tech companies including NIMBUS drone lab, Hudl, Nelnet, and Don't Panic Labs. Includes recreational activities like rock climbing, sand volleyball, bowling, and ice cream. Priority given to students entering college fall 2027, with consideration for fall 2028 students who have completed pre-calculus. Application includes essay, coding experience level, academic information, transcript, and optional scholarship application. Camp runs July 19-August 1, 2026.
