Explore how birds use tree holes, called cavities, to build nests, and build your own cavity nest box to take home. This workshop is designed for adults and children (ages 5-14) to learn together.

From the Great Horned Owl to the tiny Saw-whet Owl, Connecticut is home to all sizes and shapes of Owls! Join us to build and decorate your own recycled wood Owl model to take home. Explore why fire is important to nature and to us! We will get a chance to practice different ways of starting fire, and learn about its many uses for basic survival like cooking food and making tools. Let's circle around and celebrate its warmth while we tell stories and riddles. We will also play our classic Schoolhouse games and enjoy the creek if the weather allows. Join us this week to see if we can harness the heat to our advantage! In addition to the theme-related activities listed above, every week of camp may include some classic Schoolhouse activities such as: morning and closing circle, water time, deep woods and field games, whittling, storytelling, and of course, looking for any critters we can find! We try to spend as much time outdoors as possible, even on chilly days! Please send your camper dressed for the weather.

A day-long Spring Break camp for K-5th graders exploring the signs of spring through hands-on activities, games, crafts, and museum explorations. Campers will discover how nature changes with the seasons and why spring is exciting. Activities include creativity, movement, and outdoor-inspired fun celebrating the sights, sounds, and science of spring. Snacks and lunch not provided - bring from home. Cancellation policy: 90% refund if spot filled, 75% if not, with 2-week notice required.

Summer camp for rising 1st-5th graders focusing on entomology and bug science. Camp runs 9:00 am - 3:30 pm with extended care available 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Registration opens February 26th for members, February 27th for public.

Age: Entering 3rd - 5th grade. Partnership with ISU Extension and Dickinson County Nature Center. Combines magic, wonder, and learning about nature and science. Also offered July 8. Register Feb 16th at ISU Extension website.

Campers will fly through the week learning about local birds & their habitats, migration and eating habits - all through engaging bird crafts, nest building, dramatic play, songs, and hands-on experiments. Practice spotting common birds, learn to recognize bird calls, explore feathers and nests, and create bird-inspired crafts. Includes gentle walks and outdoor observation time. Camp runs Mon-Fri, 8:45 am-3:00 pm for children ages 3 to 6.
