A 3-week deep dive into design thinking and product development. Through this studio-based program, students will identify customer needs, generate product concepts, prototype, and design a physical product for showcase.

Join us as we explore this exciting summer camp for middle school students in Advanced Manufacturing! This summer camp is a four-day hands-on immersive STEM experience for students entering 6th and 7th (this fall) in advanced manufacturing and careers. Students will participate in a large group introduction followed by breakout sessions facilitated by GVSU staff, students, and industry professionals from around West Michigan. Sessions will include hands-on activities in CAD, 3-D Printing, Design Thinking, and Automation that will provide a glimpse into the future of the largest industry sector in Michigan. An introduction to careers in advanced manufacturing will engage students in learning about career pathways from industry professionals from West Michigan. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in off-site industry tours.

Step into the exciting world of 3D printing! In this hands-on summer camp, you'll explore the history and evolution of 3D printing technology and discover how it's shaping industries today. Youth will learn the basics of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software to create simple 3D models, prepare files for printing, and understand the workflow from design to finished product. You'll also learn how to find free, ready-to-print files online and gain practical experience by printing your own parts to take home. We'll cover the different types of 3D printers available on the market, their features, and the costs associated with owning and operating them. By the end of camp, you'll have the skills to design, source, and print your own creations--perfect for hobbyists, future engineers, and innovators! 4 sessions running Monday-Thursday. Parents must register using child's name and date of birth. Waiver required before first class.

As you build stadiums, skyscrapers, and even a Ferris wheel, you'll discover the secrets behind how engineers and architects plan, design, and create the world's most incredible structures.
