Student contest celebrating innovation, precision, and engineering mindset. Instructables Sensors Contest

A contest celebrating projects that use electronic sensors of any kind, from temperature, humidity, and light sensors to motion, proximity, pressure, sound, or beyond. All skill levels welcome. Submissions must use electronic sensors and be entered between February 2, 2026, and March 30, 2026 (11:59pm PT). Prizes include a $500 Grand Prize, $300 Student Judges' Prizes, $300 Autodesk Design & Make Award, and various other cash prizes totaling 23 awards.

20th Annual Bart Jacob Memorial Youth Turkey Calling Contest

All youth are invited to enter the 20th Annual Bart Jacob Memorial Youth Turkey Calling Contest, sponsored by Oxbow Mountain 4-H Club and underwritten by the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department. Doors open at 10:00 a.m., contest begins at 11 a.m. Participants are encouraged to register by Friday, April 10 and walk-in participants are welcome. Prizes will be awarded for First, Second, and Third Place in each age. Lunch will be available for purchase and the Tea Cup Auction is back. There will be a drawing to win a shotgun for all participants (ages 8-18) who enter the contest.

Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival

Every October, Elk Grove Park is transformed into the ultimate autumn celebration, attracting pumpkin enthusiasts from far and wide. Since 1994, the festival has been a beacon for giant pumpkin growers competing for glory. Features carnival rides, entertainment, crafts, food trucks, pumpkin sales, and the unique Pumpkin Regatta where massive pumpkins are turned into canoes for racing across the lake.
