Join Chef Matt Welsch, the Executive Chef for West Virginia State Parks, as well as the highly talented culinary teams of our beautiful state parks, while they curate unforgettable and unique dinners by integrating locally sourced items found in Appalachian pantries into culinary masterpieces. Holly River State Park will host this dinner event in the Cookhouse Restaurant. This is definitely the most unique, historic and coziest venue in all of West Virginia's State Park restaurants, so this event is not to be missed. Two-week series of events designed to spark curiosity and engage learners in grades pre-K through 12th grade, along with their families. Focus areas include science, engineering, technology, the arts, reading, outdoor learning and more. Events hosted by schools, libraries, museums, local businesses, nonprofits and community groups across West Virginia. Partnership with WVU Extension will deliver activities focused on literacy and health to rural communities. Theme: 'Wonder, Explore, and Learn Together.'

Kids ages 5 - 8 will become Nature "Sprouts" by attending the Nature "Sprouts" Day Camp. This camp blends hands-on learning, outdoor exploration, and creative play to give young sprouts a memorable and engaging experience. We will spark their imagination and help build confidence. Since 1941, the WV State Conservation Camp has welcomed youth from all over the state. The goal is to acquaint West Virginia youth with the social and economic values of natural resources and environment, create a desire to save and defend these resources, and develop future conservation leaders. Classes include Fish Management, Forest Protection, Conservation Law Enforcement, Nature Awareness, Watershed Management, Wildlife Management, Soil Conservation, Forest Management, Youth Conservation, Parks and Recreation, Forest Products, and Water Quality Conservation. Additional activities include Trap Shooting, Archery, Small Boat Safety/Handling, Rappelling, Ax Throwing, Stream Quality Improvement, .22 Caliber Rifle Marksmanship, Outdoor Cooking, Fishing Skills, Non-game Wildlife, and traditional camp activities. Camp runs Monday June 8 - Friday June 12, 2026, beginning at 1 p.m. on Monday. Participants sleep in supervised cabins with bunk-style beds. Altitude above 2,500 feet - prepare for cool weather even in summer.

Alpha I is a statewide week-long summer camp open to West Virginia youth ages 12-21. Campers participate in week-long workshops, build teamwork and leadership skills within small age-specific peer groups, engage with guest speakers during hands-on assemblies, and develop new skills while learning lifelong habits for a healthier life. The camp runs from Sunday, July 5, 2026 to Friday, July 10, 2026. Adult volunteers must be vetted through WVU Extension and register 15 days in advance. The camp is accredited by the American Camp Association.

A 22-day residential STEAM program for rising high school seniors. The program includes world-class lectures by STEM experts, directed studies, outdoor adventures, arts programming, and a trip to Washington DC. Two delegates are typically selected from each state and DC, with international delegates also participating. The camp has been running since 1963 and focuses on inspiring lifelong engagement in STEM fields.

Week-long 4-H camp for West Virginia youth ages 14-21 designed to develop leadership skills through facilitating camp activities, increase civic engagement through discussions on current issues, and participate in workshops. Campers will master new skills for use in local 4-H programs and community activities. Camp runs from Sunday, July 19, 2026 to Friday, July 24, 2026.
