Geospatial Skills Camps for Rural Montana Youth

Week-long camps designed for rising 9th and 10th graders in rural Montana communities. Topics include maps for analysis and navigation, collecting and analyzing imagery from various sources, UAV piloting skills, remote sensing, basic electronics and circuitry for sensor development, and geospatial analysis tools. Students will learn about career pathways in geospatial science and engineering, particularly those connected to the Air Force and organizations offering employment in rural areas. Students are encouraged to relate camp skills to their interests in robotics, human performance, aviation, community needs like natural resources management and precision agriculture, and national topics like security, energy, and climate change.
