AI with Aloha: Stories from Hawai'i's Classrooms

While most schools banned AI when it first emerged, one school in Hawai'i saw the wave coming and started paddling early. This session shares the stories from those chaotic early days and how they led to the AI literacy programs we've built in Hawai'i today. AI, Ethics and Technology Pre-College Program

This pre-college program offers high school students entering 10th, 11th or 12th grade a chance to engage with AI technologies, as well as think about how, why, when, and if we should use them. Through sessions with leading cybersecurity experts, renowned data scientists, marketing experts, and AI communication specialists, students will have a chance to develop their critical AI literacy. Built upon the Developing AI Literacy (DAILy) curriculum that interweaves AI concepts, ethics in AI, creativity with AI and AI career awareness. Open to grades 5-8 but welcoming to all. Sessions run roughly 8:30am - 4:30pm each day with optional evening social activities.
