Conduct experiments indoors and out at The Morton Arboretum to earn your Environmental Science Merit Badge. Hike through the west side of the Arboretum to study the environment and then design a construction plan to complete your environmental impact statement. This course meets in person at the Arboretum on two dates, with required homework between sessions. Required Reading: Environmental Merit Badge Booklet. Program is held indoors and outdoors. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable, sturdy shoes. Be prepared to walk on wood-chipped trails. Bring a notebook and pen. Course meets Sunday, March 8, 2026, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 15, 2026, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Scouts Aviation Day

Scout's BSA Aviation Day happening concurrently with 'Wind and Wings: The Science of Flight' event. Participating Scouts will learn how airplanes work, about various aviation terms, careers in aviation, and pilot certifications, and even create an FPG-9 to take home. Great opportunity for Scouts to interact with other troops and work together to earn their Aviation Merit Badge. Event includes train ride, flag ceremony, lunch, workshops to help Scouts earn their Aviation Merit Badge and much more. At least one responsible adult (leader/parent chaperone) is required to register and stay for the duration of the event.
