From Prison to Possibility: How Higher Ed Can Open Doors

Building a career after incarceration can be an uphill battle. So how can we help people access education while inside--and get a jumpstart on future success? Last year, three formerly incarcerated individuals who'd accessed higher education while in prison set out to interview inspiring people who've built meaningful careers after release. P.S. Weekly: How Teen Journalists Drive Change in Their Communities

As high schoolers, we regularly face unreceptive administrators, underfunded programs, and top-down decisions. Journalism allows us to speak out and demand better. We're reporters for Miseducation, a student-produced podcast about inequities in New York City schools. In this live episode, we'll share how our storytelling has had a tangible impact on our schools and beyond. And we'll discuss how we've overcome barriers while calling out injustices. Our work makes it clear that young people deserve a seat at the table and a real say in our education. It's time adults started listening.

Coffee with a Little Bit of Cream: Bringing Students Back from the Brink

The award-winning "Coffee With a Little Bit of Cream" podcast talks with two former Washington State Teachers of the Year about why this is happening to students, how it's not an especially new phenomenon, and how a renewed investment in relevant and engaging learning experiences, relationship and community, and belonging in classroom spaces will help students find lives of meaning and purpose and, in the process, renew their faith in public schools.
