Bring your little artist to the museum every Sunday at 2:00pm for Art Smart! This program functions as a mini art class, where we will spend each week building onto the skills we learned in past programs. Join us as we break down the basics of sketching, drawing, painting, color theory, and more!

Daytime solar telescope viewing is provided outside the McDonnell Planetarium as part of our regularly scheduled Solar Sundays program. A variety of solar telescopes and safe viewing techniques are used to provide guests safe views of the Sun, including the ability to see features like sunspots and solar prominences. Solar Sunday takes place on scheduled Sundays from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM (weather permitting). Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Solar Sundays are scheduled every Sunday. The rest of the year, Solar Sunday is scheduled only on the third Sunday of the month. All events are weather dependent and are subject to sudden cancellation.

A monthly event designed for families with members who experience sensory sensitivities, are on the autism spectrum, or who have health needs that would make a quieter visit more enjoyable. Features adjusted sound levels, limited attendance for a calmer environment, KultureCity Sensory Inclusive™ signage, sensory bags available for checkout, and access to Family Sanctuary. Held on the last Sunday of each month.

Wee Wednesday is a weekly program designed for children (ages 0-5) and their caregivers to explore and play together. With themes that change week-to-week, each session is inspired by the seasons, the spirit of Santa Fe, cultural celebrations, and inspired by engaging guest presenters. Every program is thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity and joy through play-based learning. The program strengthens executive function skills like problem-solving, focus, and flexible thinking; builds self-awareness and confidence through playful social interactions; and explores color, shape, weight, and texture using their senses and fine motor skills. Each session includes 2-3 hands-on, theme-based activities that invite children to explore, create, and connect in the Backyard Learning Lab, plus a Reading Corner.

Open play and family learning in Firefly Landing early childhood space. Young children and families try new sensory experiences, experiment with STEM activities, and make music. Each 90-minute monthly session features new activities and caregiver resources. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Includes $4 parking validation and museum admission for child.

Every First Friday the Lancaster Science Factory offers free admission from 5 - 7pm. Explore over 70 interactive exhibits for kids in grades K - 8 and their families! This program is possible through the generous support of PPL. CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT
